Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a painful foot condition in which the tibial nerve is flattened as it travels through the tarsal tunnel. The tarsal tunnel is a tunnel found along the inner leg behind the bump on the inside of the ankle, the medial malleolus.
Symptoms of tarsal tunnel syndrome include pain and tingling in the ankles, swelling, hot/cold sensations of the feet, pain from the leg into arch, heel, and toes. Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome tends to be found in individuals who do a lot of standing and put an excessive amount of stress on the tarsal tunnel area.
