Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a common, chronic inflammatory skin disease that is recurrent in millions of people around the world. Psoriasis is characterized by reddish, dry scaley patches covered by grayish-white scales. These spots, known as lesions, are often found on the nails, scalp, elbows and feet.

When psoriasis appears on the foot it can be difficult to distinguish from Athlete's Foot or the nail appearance may be confused with fungal infections. The joints of the feet can be affected by psoriasis, leading to painful arthritis. Anti-inflammatory medications and steroids are common treatments for psoriasis.
